Honor Your Ancestor

Lloyd deWitt Bockstruck is DGS's local genealogical treasure.  Lloyd is always a crowd pleaser because of his incredible knowledge, his humor, and his interesting presentation of topics.  Lloyd is the supervisor of the nationally recognized J. Erik Jonsson Dallas Public Library Genealogy Section, and his "Family Tree" column appears weekly in the Dallas Morning News.

Lloyd began his career with an undergraduate degree in biology and history, followed by a M.A. in European history, and a M.S. in library science.  His work as a teacher and librarian took him from Illinois to Mombasa, Kenya, back to Illinois and then to Dallas where he joined the Dallas Public Library in 1973.  He plays a key role in the development of the remarkable genealogy section of our library, and serves as library liaison to our Dallas Genealogical Society Board of Directors.

Lloyd has been winning awards for years and often we just say 'everyone here knows Lloyd, he needs no further introduction," but here is just a partial list of recent honors accorded him in the past 10 years:
