This is your gateway for information about the Dallas Genealogy Society, which was established in 1954. We hold General and and Special Interest Group meetings at the Dallas Public Library and offer a series of seminars featuring experts in their respective fields. Our 700+ members are active volunteers at the Genealogy section of the Library, and the organization is involved in the preservation of our genealogical history. We hope you will be a frequent visitor to our site and that you will choose support our activities by becoming a member of the DGS.

 
Library Service Desk Volunteer

Members of the Dallas Genealogical Society assist the Genealogical Section of the Dallas Public Library by serving on the volunteer desk on the 8th floor during library hours. All of the volunteer time slots are currently filled, but if you are interested in being considered in the future please contact the DGS Volunteer Coordinator.

"Web sites are only as good as people who run them," she said.

Latta said traditional sources such as courthouses, cemeteries and historical societies are often better guideposts.
