Special Interest Groups & Education Classes

Mission

To familiarize the group with the use and benefit of digital imaging devices and techniques as they apply to genealogical research, analysis, documentation and preservation.

PLEASE NOTE: The Digital Imaging Group (DIG) is not the same as the legacy Digital Preservation Group (DPG), which is no longer a Special Interest Group but is now a DGS Committee (now known as the "Digital Preservation Committee" (DPC)). The Digital Imaging Group does not replace the DPC. The Digital Imaging Group will focus on practical applications of Digital Imaging as it applies to Genealogy. The Digital Preservation Committee will focus on specific digital preservation projects (please refer to the Digital Preservation Committee web page).

Meeting Format: Meetings will be divided into sections for:

Theory of digital imaging (we will cover topics such as lighting, exposure, depth of field, ppi, dpi, etc.
Technical demonstration of some imaging device or technique
Tips, hints & kinks, shortcuts, etc.
A handout that can be added to a notebook for future reference
Communal problem solving from members
Questions & Answers

REMINDER: The Digital Imaging Group meeting dates and times have changed! The group now meets on the 2nd Saturday of the month, at 9:30 A.M., in the Hamon Room.
